This rug displays natural tones of wool: white, beige, brown, and black. The design evokes dark soil, rock-strewn mountains, arid land, stifling heat, and snow, reflective of the area from which it came.
From start to finish, this rug was made completely by hand: Handspun, hand-dipped in natural dyes, and woven on a traditional wooden loom. Traditional weavers do not work from a pattern as do weavers in commercial workshops. Each piece is imagined and carefully planned by the weaver, making this rug a piece of functional art and a reflection of the woman who crafted it.
