About the Raffia
This raffia bag is handcrafted by a women-run coop based out of Marrakech. Raffia is known for being strong, durable, pliable, and flexible yet soft binding material. Raffia has a natural resistance to water, but the fibre itself is not considered waterproof. If soaked, it has the potential to lose a considerable amount of body. Caring for your raffia is simple but crucial to ensure its longevity.
Care
- Store in a dry place where the bag can sit upright. Do not pile other items on top of the bag as it can cause it to lose it's shape.
- If your bag has developed small fly away fibres, you can easily trim them with a sharp pair of scissors or snips; This won’t cause structural damage or unravel the whole bag.
- Spot clean using a soft cloth, cold water and mild detergent then allow it to naturally dry. Consult a dry cleaning professional for stain removal.
