Marrakech is a feast for the senses, and its culinary scene is no exception. Whether you're wandering through the vibrant Medina or relaxing in chic Gueliz, you'll find an abundance of flavors that reflect the city's rich cultural tapestry. Here’s a curated list of my must-visit spots every time I'm in Marrakech that showcase the best of its food scene.
Bacha Coffee
Step into Bacha Coffee and prepare to be transported to a world of opulence. Nestled in the heart of Marrakech, this palace turned museum and coffee shop serves over 200 varieties of single-origin Arabica. Pair your brew with one of their exquisite pastries, and soak in the stunning interiors adorned with intricate mosaics and gilded details. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or just want to soak in the Instagram-worthy setting, Bacha Coffee is an unmissable stop. Tip: Bacha doesn't take reservations and it's a popular spot. We recommend arriving 45 minutes before opening (9:15am) to secure a spot, unless you want to wait 2-3 hours.
Fave menu items: Croissant of the day!
Naranj
For a taste of fresh and vibrant Lebanese cuisine, head to Naranj. This charming eatery specializes in dishes inspired by Spanish and Middle Eastern flavors, featuring ingredients like citrus, olive oil, and aromatic spices. Their tapas menu is perfect for sharing, and the laid-back ambiance makes it an ideal spot for a leisurely lunch or dinner.
Fave menu items: Tabbouleh, Taouk Wrap
L'Mida Marrakech
L'Mida offers a fusion twist on Moroccan cuisine in a rooftop setting that provides stunning views of the Medina. The menu features dishes crafted with locally sourced ingredients, combining traditional flavors with contemporary presentation. Don’t miss their slow-cooked tagines or their refreshing mint lemonade. We love L’Mida for lunch after a visit to the co-op, or for early dinner to catch the sunset over the city from the incredible rooftop. Tip: If you want to sit on the rooftop, you'll need a reservation.
Fave menu items: Chreb ou Chouf (mocktail), Burrata & Taktouka Mechouia, Tajine de Bœuf Makhani, Gnocchi Berber

Al Fassia Gueliz
Operated entirely by women, Al Fassia Gueliz is authentic Moroccan cuisine in an upscale setting. Known for its impeccable service and authentic Moroccan dishes, this restaurant delivers a dining experience steeped in tradition. Signature dishes include their perfectly spiced lamb shoulder and a variety of savory briouats. Even Hasna, our social media manager who tends to be skeptical of upscale dining, was impressed by this restaurant. Tip: Make a reservation in advance, as this beloved spot is always in high demand.
Fave menu items: Assortment of briouates, Tanjia

Sabich Marrakech Medina
For a street-food-inspired experience, check out Sabich Marrakech Medina. This cozy spot serves up delectable Middle Eastern dishes with Moroccan flair. Their namesake sabich—a pita stuffed with fried eggplant, boiled egg, and an array of vibrant toppings—steals the show, but we also loved the labneh with candied tomatoes. It’s the perfect grab-and-go option while exploring the lively streets of the Medina.
Fave menu items: Labneh with Candied Tomatoes, Chicken Sabich

Good Vibes Coffee
Tucked away on a street near Riad Laarouse, Good Vibes Coffee lives up to its name with its laid-back atmosphere and expertly brewed coffee. This charming café blends Marrakech’s vibrant energy with a cozy, eclectic vibe, making it the perfect place to start your day. Whether grabbing a spiced coffee to go or settling in to watch the city’s rhythm unfold, Good Vibes is our favorite place to start the day.

Mandala Society
Our favorite brunch spot in the medina is Mandala Society. Started by an Icelandic and Moroccan couple, this hip cafe offers a menu that spans the globe, from hearty breakfast bowls to gourmet burgers. Their specialty coffee and fresh juices are perfect for fueling up before a day of exploring. The modern, bohemian vibe makes it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
Fave menu items: Breakfast Burger, Smoothie Bowl
Whether you’re sipping coffee in a lavish setting or savoring a tagine on a rooftop terrace, Marrakech offers a culinary journey like no other. These spots are just the beginning of what this vibrant city has to offer, so be sure to come hungry and ready to explore!
