Josefina is one of the team's original and most prolific bag designers. She has been weaving for over 20 years, having learned the craft from her husband Paco and his family.
Josefina took to weaving very quickly, including dyeing the wool and designing the patterns. She has even become an accomplished seamstress. Now, she finishes bags for other weavers with her industrial sewing machine.
She loves the entire process, from choosing the colors and patterns to watching them come to life on the loom and becoming a finished handbag. Dyeing the colors, however, is her favorite part.
“I forget the world when I begin to dye the colors,” she said. “The colors are never the same and it’s interesting every time.”
In their free time, Josefina and Paco enjoy spending time with their family in Teotitlan. Josefina loves to cook Oaxacan dishes and gather with the people they love.
